Music can be powerful. It can grab our attention, change our mood and give us energy. If we like the music, our mood usually improves. If we don’t like the music what happens?
As you listen to the music notice what your response is. Can you maintain focus on the music from the beginning to the end?
After listening, you may also like to think about these questions:
- What music do you listen to when you need to calm down?
- What music gives you energy when you need a bit of motivation?
- How do you use music to help you respond to challenging situations?
Extra practice: For those of you who are really interested in self-mastery – here’s a challenge… Can you listen to something that you don’t like and not react negatively? Can you maintain curiosity and openness with something you don’t enjoy?
